RIO Clouser Stinger Minnow in Pink & Chartreuse - New!
One of the weirdest fisheries in the PNW is that of sea-run cutthroat and salmon in the saltwater, as few of the patterns work that you would normally expect to work on trout and salmon in freshwater. The Clouser Stinger is one of those unique patterns that is designed to cater strictly to the saltwater in the PNW. It is sparse, with a long clear mono loop and stinger to mimic the sand eels in the salt. The stinger is set far back to hook up on the lazy way the salmon hit at times in the salt. It is heavy to work well from a boat or the shore.
The original Clouser minnow is of course the most popular baitfish pattern in the world, and equally effective for any fish in fresh or saltwater that likes to eat smaller fish. This fly uses lead dumbbell eyes to get depth, and help with the jigging action that makes this fly so deadly.
